1. What is this portal all about?
With the support of the Senate Department for Economy, Technology and Women, the initiative „Berlin Games & Web 2.0 Forum“ will strengthen the attractiveness of Berlin as a business location in the sector games & web 2.0 through direct networking and present it to the public. On that account this initiative has been offering an intersectoral communication platform that makes it possible for all interested persons to establish and extend networks, develop ideas and establish contacts to businesses of related or unrelated branches (film, music, mobile). This service will be both available on the internet portal “www.interactive-city-berlin.de” and on events for all members taking place several times a year.
2. Which goals does this portal pursue?
The aim is to report about businesses, projects, events and support institutions in the capital region of Berlin. Furthermore, new business areas are to be communicated and conditions for the settling and foundation of young companies are to be improved. Additionally, issues on the financing, on the support for technology, on science and on both vocational and advanced education of the branch will be discussed.

This initiative addresses those who are interested in games and web 2.0 in the capital region of Berlin.
4. Which benefits do users have?
The information and communication portal www.interactive-city-berlin.de is, besides events taking place several times a year, the second pillar of the initiative „Berlin Games & Web 2.0 Forums“. The portal is the core element for networking, exchange of information, match making and much more. The internet platform provides a data base that includes all companies from Berlin that are engaged in computer and video games as well as in web 2.0 applications. A search engine makes it possible for interested persons to access information on these fields and companies.
On the associated community section (login required), companies and persons may additionally present themselves, establish and cultivate contacts and communicate events. A comfortable overview option keeps members up to date on the development of the community.
5. Which main topics does the initiative focus on?
It is to be differentiated between the information and communication portal. The information portal provides content to the following topics:
News on games and web 2.0 developments, event schedule, vocational and advanced education, promotional programs, data base search engine for businesses, documents, events, etc.
The communication portal (community section) is a networking tool for businesses and persons. Content is generated by members themselves through posting events or entries on forums and blogs. Given that, the communication portal follows the idea of web 2.0 with user-generated content being its core element.

On the left-hand side you can find the following sections with the following tools:
1. Creative section: This is the editorial part of the platform.
- News: latest developments, dates and events
- Interviews: Interviews with persons of the games & web 2.0 sector
- Specials: Portraying businesses or persons
- Know-How: Information on the games and web 2.0 branch
- Entrepreneurship: Information on economic promotion, living and working in Berlin, business start-up, copyright, taxes, …
- Partners, operating company: Information on the operating company and its partners
- Further creative sections: Information on other creative branches other than games and web 2.0 in the capital region of Berlin.
2. Advanced search: You may search here for businesses, persons etc.
- Creative section: The selection of the creative section to be searched in (default: games & interactive)
- Description: Determines what to search for, e.g. persons, institutions, events, etc.
- Category: Determines in which sector the respective business or person works.
- Location: Determines the location of the respective business or person etc.
- further sub-categories: Depending on the search setting there may be additional search filters for individual sectors.

11. To which extent can users be involved in the development of the portal?
Users have the opportunity to directly contact us via the section “Proposals”. There you can propose us new developments, businesses, events, etc. In the community section members are provided all tools so that this section is largely shaped by users. Given that, members can inform the community about events, dates and news. Later on, personal blogs and forums will be added to these communication tools.
12. How can users exchange ideas and thoughts with each other?
Members are offered different tools for communication. However, communication will first be restricted to contacting via e-mail and the option to post dates and events. In the course of the development of the internet platform further tools will be released.

The operating company that runs this portal is Global Games Media Ltd. in cooperation with the initiative “Projekt Zukunft” (project future) of the Senate Department for Economy, Technology and Women.
